Early Access
Helsinki Online is in Early Access. The whole city is here, but parts of it are still unfinished.
The city is built from Helsinki's and Finland's open data. Many people and studios contributed assets, tools and work to this game. This list is not final: full and proper attribution will be given to everyone whose work is in the game.

About AI in Helsinki Online
I'm Pietari Niinimäki, the sole developer of Helsinki Online. I have 14 years of experience in game development and 3D modelling, and I want to be open about where AI tools are used in this game.
- Trees and ground plants. Some of the tree and low-vegetation graphics (the small plants on the ground) were made with AI image generation. These are flat, orthographic billboard images, and the game needs each plant in several seasons, styles and heights. Billboards like that are very hard to find or to make, so I generated them.
- Sound effects. Many sound effects are currently made with ElevenLabs. It makes building and testing new features much faster than searching for every sound. Over time they will be replaced with real sound effects from real creators.
- Building textures. Some of the more detailed building textures started as real photogrammetry from Helsinki's 3D city model. Those textures are often very messy, so AI was used on top of the real data to clean them up into usable PBR materials.
- Code and interface. AI has also been used in programming and in some interface elements.
- Not AI. The music in the game is not AI-generated. The city itself is built from open data, so it is based on the real Helsinki.
This is a very early work in progress. I have a high standard for quality, and I will not let bad-looking things into the final release.
